Second-phase measures to enhance Continuing Education Fund
**********************************************************

The second-phase improvement measures to enhance the operation of the Continuing Education Fund (CEF) will be implemented from tomorrow (December 1).

A spokesman from the Labour and Welfare Bureau said today (November 30) that the validity period for making reimbursement claims for the CEF would be extended from two to four years.  A maximum of four claims would also be allowed within the four-year validity period.

"The extension arrangement will apply to all applicants who have not claimed the maximum amount of $10,000, including former applicants whose validity period has already expired," the spokesman said.

The Office of the Continuing Education Fund (OCEF) will soon issue letters to individual eligible applicants on details of the extension arrangement.

Under the first-phase enhancement of the CEF as announced on August 30, the upper age limit of eligible applicants of the CEF has already been lifted from 60 to 65 from September 1 to enable more learners to enjoy the financial subsidy of the CEF.  From then on, courses on Spanish and Korean are also eligible for registration under the language domain of the CEF.

For enquiries, please contact the OCEF at 3142 2277 or write via email, post or by fax.
