Three employers ordered to pay MPF non-payment

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (November 21) pursued three claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $17,000 on behalf of four employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     The three defendants, Sare Care Co. Limited, Max Group Industrial Limited and Wong Tong trading as Tong Kee Metal & Cleaning Appliance, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $10,449.04, $6,318.15 and $300, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal further ordered the respective defendants to pay respective costs of $80, $175 and $190.
