Roving exhibition a chance to learn more about insects (with photos)
************************************************************

Visitors to an annual roving exhibition organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will have the chance to learn more about insects, the largest animal family in the world.

The roving exhibition entitled ˇ§Insect World at Tai Po Waterfront Parkˇ¨ will first be held at the park on Saturday (November 10) and then at five other LCSD parks.

At the exhibition, 37 insect specimens and models on display at the Insect House of Tai Po Waterfront Park will be introduced. A wide range of fun-filled education talks and games will also be on offer.

There are more than a million species of insects in the world, outnumbering all other animal species in total.

An insect body is divided into three main parts: the head, thorax and abdomen. The head bears a pair of antennae while the thorax has three pairs of legs. Most adult insects have two pairs of wings.

Through text and photos on display panels, the roving exhibition will provide information on the body structure and metamorphosis of insects as well as the local and foreign insect specimens on display. Models of some insects will also be exhibited.

The roving exhibition will be first held at Tai Po Waterfront Park from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday (November 10 and 11).

To enhance visitorsˇ¦ knowledge of insects, a 45-minute educational talk will be given at 11.30am, 2pm and 3pm during the two-day exhibition at Tai Po Waterfront Park. Children can also participate in a range of educational fringe activities such as insect tour matching game, 3D insect puzzle and insect sliding puzzle.

The exhibition panels will then be moved to other five parks:
