SLW visits Vocational Training Council (With photos)

    The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, visited the Vocational Training Council (VTC) today (November 2) to better understand the programmes offered by the Council¡¦s Youth College and various Training Centres.

     Accompanied by the Chairman of VTC, Mr Andrew Leung and the Executive Director of VTC, Dr Carrie Willis, Mr Cheung first visited the VTC Youth College at So Uk that offers value-added vocational courses for Secondary 3 and Secondary 5 school leavers to equip them with necessary skills for employment or further studies.

     Mr Cheung stopped by the language laboratory, beauty care centre, hair salon, dancing room, multimedia/computer animation laboratory and computer assembly workshop to see how courses were conducted and talked to students about their interest and career plans.

     Mr Cheung then visited the Printing Industry Training Centre, Electronic Industry Training Centre and Hospitality Industry Training and Development Centre at the VTC Kowloon Bay Training Centre Complex.
 
     "The Vocational Training Centre has contributed significantly to providing our young people and employees of various sectors with vocational education and training of a high quality that meet the developing needs of Hong Kong.

     I am most impressed by the VTC¡¦s dedication in equipping our young people  for the future," Mr Cheung said.
