The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (October 29) pursued four claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $100,000 on behalf of 36 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

Gallantly Limited, Hoi On Security Company Limited, Goldmen Electronic Company Limited and New Icon Industrial Limited did not appear at today's hearing.      The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal further ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $170, $156, $137 and $159.

Gallantly Limited previously pleaded guilty to 20 counts of failing to make MPF contributions for its employees on time. The defendant was fined $5,000 for the first summons and $1,500 each for the remaining summonses, totalling $33,500.
