*******************************************************

The Chief Executive in Council has approved the draft Urban Renewal Authority (URA) Nullah Lane/Hing Wan Street/King Sing Street Development Scheme Plan (DSP).

"The approved DSP provides a statutory land use planning framework to guide the implementation of the URA Nullah Lane/Hing Wan Street/King Sing Street Development Scheme," a spokesman for the Town Planning Board said today (October 18).

The Development Scheme Area, covering about 929.5 square metres, comprises 72-74A Stone Nullah Lane, 2-8 Hing Wan Street, 8 King Sing Street and some Government land adjoining the above properties.  The buildings at 72-74A Stone Nullah Lane and 2-8 Hing Wan Street are typical old tenement houses built in the early 20th century and are classified as either Grade I or II Historical Buildings.

The area is zoned as "Other Specified Uses" annotated "Open Space and Historical Buildings preserved for Cultural, Community and Commercial Uses".  The historical buildings at 72-74A Stone Nullah Lane and 2-8 Hing Wan Street will be preserved for cultural, community and commercial uses, with the provision of outdoor open-air public space for recreational uses serving the need of the local residents as well as the general public.  A public open space with an area of at least 220 square metres for passive recreation and hosting of community events will be provided.

The approved DSP No. S/H5/URA2/2 is now available for public inspection during normal office hours at the Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, the Planning Enquiry Counters of the Planning Department in North Point and Sha Tin, the Hong Kong District Planning Office and the Wan Chai District Office.

Copies of the approved DSP are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the plan can be viewed on the Town Planning Board's website at http://www.info.gov.hk/tpb.
