Appointments to the Travel Industry Compensation Fund Management Board

    The Government announced today (October 12) appointments to the Travel Industry Compensation Fund Management Board.

     Mr Joseph Fu Chi-kwong, Mr Leo Ma Chan-hang, Mr Joseph Tung Yao-chung, and Miss Connie Lau Yin-hing have been re-appointed as members of the board for two years with effect from October 15.

     Two new members, Mr Chan Kam-lam, and Director, Head of Public Sector Division, Hong Kong Corporate Banking of Citibank, N.A., Mr Kevin Lam Sze-cay, are appointed to replace Mr Kam Pok-man and Ms Teresa Ko Yuk-yin, who have served the board for six years. The term of office will be for two years from October 15.

     "We are grateful to the retiring members for their past service on the board. During their terms of service, they have demonstrated strong commitment and provided valuable contribution to the work of the Management Board in protecting the interest of the outbound travellers. We also look forward to working with the new members in further advancing the interests of outbound travellers," a government spokesman said.

     The Travel Industry Compensation Fund Management Board is a statutory body established under the Travel Agents Ordinance (Chapter 218).  the board holds, manages and applies the Travel Industry Compensation Fund which provides ex gratia payment to outbound travellers in the event of default of travel agents or travel accidents happened to packaged tours arranged by travel agents.
