The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, today (September 24) visited Tung Chung to look at the latest community and public housing facilities in the new town.
Accompanied by the Chairman of the Housing Authority's Finance Committee, Mr Stanley Wong Yuen-fai and the Deputy Director of Housing (Estate Management), Mr Lau Kai-hung, Ms Cheng visited a family with elderly members in Yat Tung Estate to better understand the living environment of public rental housing tenants in the new town.
Ms Cheng then visited the Jockey Club Women Integrated Service Centre of Hong Kong Outlying Islands Womenˇ¦s Association in Yat Tung Estate. The centre provides family, women, children and retraining services for the local community.
She has also toured the ˇ§Tung Chung Artwalkˇ¨ in Yat Tung Estate where 26 pieces of sculpture and murals featuring the historical and cultural characteristics of Tung Chung are displayed. The artwalk, a joint effort of the Housing Authority and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, is the first public art garden located at a public housing estate.
