Endangered Species Protection logo design competition 2007
**********************************************************

An Endangered Species Protection Logo Design Competition was now under way to enhance students' awareness of the importance of endangered species protection, an Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department spokesman said today (September 10).

The competition comprises two categories: primary school division and secondary school division. The logo design should feature the theme of the protection of endangered flora and fauna, such as preventing the overuse of wildlife resources; and anti-poaching or anti-smuggling of wild animals and plants.  For more information, please call 2150 6974 or visit the department's website www.cites.org.hk.

"A champion, a first runner-up, a second runner-up and 10 outstanding awards will be selected for each category. An award for active participation will be given to the school with the highest number of submissions. Each winner will be awarded a certificate and a book coupon. The winning logos will be printed on souvenirs for public distribution to disseminate the message of endangered species protection," the spokesman said.

Entries with the completed forms should be submitted by post to the Endangered Species Protection Division, Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, Counter No 7, 5/F, Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices, 303 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon or by delivery to the same address through the school before October 27.

Results will be published on the department's website in mid-November. The prize presentation ceremony and exhibition will be held in the Hong Kong Wetland Park on November 24 (Saturday).
