Jockey Club Wong Shek and Tai Mei Tuk Water Sports Centres re-open tomorrow
***********************************************************

The Jockey Club Wong Shek and Tai Mei Tuk Water Sports Centres would be re-opened tomorrow (September 7), the Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (September 6).

After considering that there has been no shark sighting in Hong Kong waters since August 31, the department decided to reopen the two water sports centres.  But all sea trips from the two water sports centres and Chong Hing Water Sports Centre to open waters will remain suspended. Yellow flags will be hoisted at the centres, denoting that the water sports activities are to be confined to in-shore waters.

The Jockey Club Wong Shek and Tai Mei Tuk Water Sports Centres have been closed and the sea trips from Chong Hing Water Sports Centre have been suspended since August 31 after the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department confirmed the discovery of a juvenile shark carcass at Hoi Ha Wan.

The department will keep close contacts with other government departments and will consider resuming the sea trips from the three water sports centres progressively at the appropriate time.
