Renowned pianist Tammy Lum will perform pieces from famous American composers including Albright, Copland, Crumb, Gershwin, Kirchner, Lee, MacDowell, Piazzolla and Rachmaninoff in recital next month (October).
Tammy Lum is an international performer and music professor. As the winner of the 1990 Leschetizky Foundation Competition, she made her solo debut at Carnegie Recital Hall in the US the same year. She was also the winner of the 1987 William Boyd Competition, the 1988 Manhattan School of Music Concerto Competition, winner of the 1988 Mieczyslaw Munz Foundation Scholarship Competition, the 1990 Competition of the Five Town Music and Arts Foundation and a prizewinner of the 1995 New Orleans International Piano Competition. In 1999, her solo piano music compact disc recording, "My Treasure Box" was released under the label of Hugo Productions.
Among her more important concerto appearances and recitals are collaboration with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Augusta, Georgia Symphony Orchestra and Sarah Lawrence Symphony Orchestra. Other performances have been in New York's Alice Tully Hall, Dame Myra Hess Concert Series in Chicago, the annual Beethoven Festival in New York, the Sarah Lawrence College Concert Series, and solo recitals in Hong Kong.
Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "American Treasures - Piano Recital by Tammy Lum" will be staged at 8pm, October 4 (Thursday) at the Theatre, Hong Kong City Hall. Tickets priced at $150 and $100 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions will be granted to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. (Limited tickets for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis.)
