Job fair offers more than 3,700 vacancies

    The Labour Department will tomorrow (September 5) stage a job fair at Exhibition Gallery, G/F, Hong Kong Central Library, providing more than 3,700 vacancies for job-seekers.

     A total of 42 companies, mainly from the retail, catering, property management and banking and insurance sectors, will set up counters and offer about 3,200 vacancies for on-the-spot recruitment.

     The vacancies cover managerial and frontline positions such as manager, shop supervisor, manager trainee, customer service officer, sales, waiter/waitress, shop assistant, security guard as well as other positions like cook, aircraft Maintenance Craftsman Trainee, flight attendant, computer professional and engineer.  Job-seekers who want to know more about the vacancies may click to the department's website on Interactive Employment Service (www.jobs.gov.hk).

     Special panels will also be mounted to display around 500 vacancies solicited from 18 other companies. The Labour Department will conduct on-the-spot registration for job-seekers.
     
     About 95% of the vacancies offered are full-time jobs, with a monthly salary ranging from $5,000 to $11,000. A majority of these vacancies require Form 5 educational level or below. More than 50% of them are open to job-seekers without relevant experience.  Job-seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews.
   
     The Employment Retraining Broad will accept on-the-spot applications for retraining courses.  There are also video shows on the employment services of the Labour Department and interviewing techniques.

     The job fair will be held from 11am to 6pm at Exhibition Gallery, G/F, Hong Kong Central Library, No.66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay Hong Kong. Admission is free.
