The Government announced today (August 31) the appointment of six new members and the re-appointment of four incumbent members to the Lotteries Fund Advisory Committee for a term of two years from tomorrow (September 1).
The six new members are Ms Anna Tang King-yung, Dr Chan Wah-fat, Mrs Joanna Li Lau Lai-hing, Ms Constance Yue Mui-ying, Mr Yeung Yuet-bor and Mr Chan Wai-to.
Ms Tang is an elected member of the Wan Chai District Council and a member of various central committees, including the Appeal Board Panel (Gas Safety) and the Appeal Tribunal Panel (Buildings). She has experience in serving on various community service organisations.
Dr Chan is a Consultant Psychiatrist of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital and a member of the Guardianship Board. He was also a member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal and the Vice-chairman of the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong.
Mrs Li is a lawyer. She is currently a member of the Women's Commission and the Disciplinary Committee Panel of the Social Workers Registration Board.
Ms Yue is the Principal Social Services Secretary of Po Leung Kuk. She is a member of Social Work Training Fund Committee and a member of the former Steering Committee on Study of Family Commission.
Mr Yeung is the Adjunct Professor of the Department of Information Systems of the City University of Hong Kong. He has experience in serving on government boards and committees and is currently a member of the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board.
Mr Chan is the Senior Lecturer of the Division of Social Studies of the City University of Hong Kong. He has rich experience in serving on welfare-related committees, including the Committee on Community Support for Rehabilitated Offenders, Release under Supervision Board and the Social Workers Registration Board.
The four incumbent members re-appointed are Mr Suen Leung-kwong, Mr Chan Wing-lim, Mr Pau Shiu-hung and Dr John Yeung Hin-chung.
"The members come from a wide range of professions and we would be able to draw on their expertise and experience in serving the committee," a government spokesman said.
"We wish to thank the five outgoing members, Mr Ching Cheung-ying, Dr Wong Chun-por, Miss Anna May Chan Mei-lan, Miss Gabriella Wong Siu-ling and Mrs Agnes Mak Tang Pik-yee, for their contribution to the work of the committee during their term of appointment," the spokesman said.
The Advisory Committee, chaired by the Director of Social Welfare, is to examine applications from welfare agencies for allocations from the Lotteries Fund and to advise on charitable fund-raising issues including the allocation of flag days.
