The Government today (August 31) announced that the Chief Executive had appointed Ms Wong Sau-ying as a new member of the Broadcasting Authority for a two-year term from September 1.
Five existing members, Mrs Stella Lau Kun Lai-kuen, Professor Leonard Cheng Kwok-hon, Ms Marina Wong Yu-pok, Mr Adrian Wong Koon-man and Mr Henry Tsang Yuk-wong, had been re-appointed for a two-year term from September 1.
A young professional, experienced in the media industry, Ms Wong Sau-ying is now the head of corporate communication of a public utility company and member of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited.
Welcoming the new appointment, the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Frederick Ma, said he was confident that Ms Wong's expertise and extensive experience in the fields of corporate communications and mass media would help enrich the exposure of the Broadcasting Authority.
Mr Ma also expressed gratitude to the outgoing member, Dr Carlye Tsui Wai-ling, for her devotion and contribution to the work of the authority since 2000.
"Under Dr Tsui's leadership, the authority's Codes of Practice Committee regularly reviewed the codes on programme and advertising standards to ensure that they continued to be conducive to business while meeting the community's expectation," Mr Ma said.
