Roving exhibition to celebrate 25th anniversary of Lands Department

    The Lands Department will hold a roving exhibition and thematic talks at Hong Kong Central Library from tomorrow (September 1) to September 3 in celebration of its 25th anniversary.  People are invited to attend and admission is free.

     The exhibition will introduce the work of the Lands Department on the fronts of public land auction, acquisition and clearance, consent scheme, deeds of mutual convenant and the management agreement; and survey and mapping works.  

     The latest technical development and applications in the department will be introduced through a series of exhibits, photos and displays. A video presentation of the Lands Departmentˇ¦s work will also be shown in the venue. People will gain a better understanding about the works of the department after visiting the exhibition.

     People can also view the geographical change of Hong Kong through the displayed maps and aerial photographs produced by the Survey and Mapping Office (SMO) of the Lands Department.

     They can see the latest technology and development of survey and mapping instruments, Geospatial Information Hub System, virtual reality model and stereoscopic aerial photographs.  

     Visitors can also take the opportunity to keep abreast of the latest development in survey and mapping in Hong Kong by attending the thematic talks held by the SMO on Digital Map in New Century, Land Boundary Survey in Hong Kong and Global Positioning System (GPS) survey in Hong Kong.

     The roving exhibition will move to the Tuen Mun Government Offices (October 24 to 26) and Sha Tin Town Hall (December 3 to 5).
