The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (August 28) obtained two orders in the District Court for payment of outstanding Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) contributions at about $280,000 against two employers.
The District Court today issued judgements against Hong Ning Milk Products Company Limited and Dragon Lake Holdings Limited trading as Typhoon Shelter Sea View Restaurant. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $190,194.15 and $87,944.17 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 35 employees of each of the defendants.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court further ordered the defendants to each pay costs of $930.
