The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Tai Po to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.
The restaurant, on ground floor, Dragon Court, Nos 89-91B Wan Tau Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (August 21) to September 3, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.
"In June this year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the premises.
"A total fine of $960 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.
He said the same restaurant had one conviction in August 2005 and another in July last year for the same offence.
"A total fine of $1,060 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from October 11 to 17 last year," the spokesman said.
He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
