The first wedding at the assembly hall of Lei Yue Mun Park and Holiday Village managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) was held today (August 17).
Witnessed by more than 100 relatives and friends, the couple, Mr Kenneth Leung and Miss Suria Kong, were married in a Christian ceremony, filling the holiday village with love and romance.
Representing the LCSD, Chief Leisure Manager (Management), Mr Alfred Chow, presented a souvenir to the couple, wishing them a happy marriage.
"The assembly hall, a historic building, is adorable. It is as solemn as a conventional chapel, yet we can add cheerful touches through venue decoration," the newlyweds said.
"The garden setting outside the assembly hall is also photogenic," they said.
The bride also said they did not need to worry about the weather as the assembly hall was an indoor venue.
Finding the LCSD venue as an ideal place for their marriage ceremony, they were delighted to be the first couple to be married at the holiday village.
Under the "Choose an LCSD venue for your wedding" scheme, six venues are on offer for weddings. The department organised a mock wedding at the assembly hall of the Lei Yue Mun Park and Holiday Village on February 14 to launch the scheme.
The six LCSD venues where weddings can be conducted are: the assembly hall of Lei Yue Mun Park and Holiday Village; Six Arts Terrace of Kowloon Walled City Park; the lawn and amphitheatre of Tai Po Waterfront Park; Bauhinia Garden of Kowloon Tsai Park, Sai Kung Waterfront Park and Repulse Bay Beach.

So far 94 applications for holding weddings in the venues have been received and there have been more than 1,400 enquiries.
