The Jockey Club Wong Shek and Tai Mei Tuk Water Sports Centres would be reopened on August 17 (Friday), the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (August 15).
After considering that there has been no shark sighting in Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) since August 6 and the shark warning at the marine park has been lifted, and that there was no shark sighting report in Hong Kong waters, including the waters off the two water sports centres, the LCSD decided to reopen the two water sports centres. But all sea trips from the two water sports centres and Chong Hing Water Sports Centre to open waters will remain suspended.
The Jockey Club Wong Shek and Tai Mei Tuk Water Sports Centres have been closed since July 1 after the AFCD's confirmation that the two fishes seen by the public at Hoi Ha Wan were sharks.
The sea trips from Stanley Main Beach Water Sports Centre and St. Stephen's Beach Water Sports Centre will resume on August 17.
The LCSD will keep close contacts with other government departments and will consider resuming the sea trips from the three water sports centres in the New Territories progressively at the appropriate time.
