Acting CE meets with IOC, FEI and BOCOG delegations (with photos/video)

    The acting Chief Executive, Mr Henry Tang, today (August 12) met with the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Mr Jacques Rogge, the President of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein; Vice President of Chinese Olympic Committee and the Executive Vice President of the Beijing Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), Yu Zaiqing; and the Executive Vice President of the Beijing Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), Mr Wang Wei; who were currently in Hong Kong together with their delegations to attend the Good Luck Beijing ¡V HKSAR 10th Anniversary Cup.

     Welcoming the various delegations to observe the equestrian event, Mr Tang said: "The competition was aimed at testing out the hardware and software needed for Hong Kong to successfully host the 2008 Olympic equestrian event." Mr Rogge praised Hong Kong for organising a very successful event.

     Mr Tang thanked the delegations for their support and assistance to the Good Luck Beijing ¡V HKSAR 10th Anniversary Cup Competition.  He invited the various parties to offer their advice in respect of the venues, facilities and the co-ordination of the competition so that Hong Kong could make better preparation in the coming year with a view to hosting a most successful Olympic equestrian event in 2008.  

     Mr Tang also extended his thanks to the tremendous support and efforts given by all parties involved. Also joining the meeting were Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing; President of Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the Hon Timothy Fok; members of the Equestrian Committee (Hong Kong) of Beijing Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, representatives from London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG), the Hong Kong Jockey Club and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Equestrian Events Hong Kong Fund.

     A total of nine delegations comprising some 40 horses participated in the Good Luck Beijing ¡V HKSAR 10th Anniversary Cup which was held between August 11 and 13.
