Youth job fair offers more than 2 500 vacancies

The Youth Work Experience and Training Scheme (YWETS) of the Labour Department will co-organise a job fair for youths at Dragon Centre, Shamshuipo with the New Territories Association Retraining Centre on Tuesday (August 14).  The job fair will provide more than 2 500 vacancies for young job-seekers, covering such positions as clerk, sales, waiter, customer service assistant and purchasing officer.

Thirty-one companies will set up recruitment booths at the venue for receiving job applications and conducting on-site interviews.  Registered social workers will also be available for providing career counselling and consultation service on the spot.

The YWETS and the Youth Pre-employment Training Programme (YPTP) of the department provide a full range of pre-employment and on-the-job training to young people aged 15 to 24 with educational attainment below the degree level.  Joint application of the two programmes is underway.  Interested young people can submit applications through the counter of YWETS at the venue.

Application forms can also be obtained from the YPTP and YWETS Offices, Job Centres of the Labour Department, the Public Enquiry Service Centres of the Home Affairs Department and the District Offices of the Social Welfare Department, relevant training bodies or the Youth Employment Services website: www.yes.labour.gov.hk.  Enquiries can be made on 2112 9932.
