The Government intends to allow developers to construct a new cruise terminal at the southern end of the former Kai Tak Airport runway.
The works involve demolition of the existing sea wall at the southern end of the former Kai Tak Airport runway and its reconstruction within the existing land portion for the provision of the new cruise terminal berths, and dredging of the foreshore and sea-bed at the southern side of the former Kai Tak Airport runway for safe berthing and manoeuvring of vessels.
The works, which will affect an area of about 86 hectares of foreshore and sea-bed at Victoria Harbour, are scheduled to commence in mid 2008 for completion by 2015 at the earliest.
A notice describing the extent of the area affected is published in the Government Gazette today (August 10).
The notice together with its related plan can be seen on notice boards posted near the site. The plan can also be seen at the Lands Department Survey and Mapping Office, 23rd Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point; the Kowloon City District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Rooms 1706-1713, 17th Floor, One Harbourfront, 18-22 Tak Fung Street, Hung Hom, and the Eastern District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Ground Floor, Eastern Law Courts Building, 29 Tai On Street, Sai Wan Ho.
Any person who has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved may submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20th Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong by October 10.
