The franchisee of Route 3 (Country Park Section) (Route 3) announced today (August 10) that it would raise statutory tolls on August 19 and would adjust the concessionary tolls for certain types of vehicles.
"Under the toll adjustment mechanism in the relevant ordinance, the franchisee is entitled to effect a statutory toll increase as its actual net revenue has fallen short of the estimated level specified in the ordinance," a government spokesman said. "It also has the discretion to decide on the level of concessions to be offered. We note the franchisee's decision to maintain the actual tolls for medium and heavy goods vehicles, and to continue to offer concessions to other types of vehicles. We hope that more concessions can be offered in the future."
The Tai Lam Tunnel and Yuen Long Approach Road Ordinance provides for a specified toll adjustment mechanism for Route 3. The franchisee has recently notified the Government of its decision to exercise its right to effect a statutory toll increase. The new statutory tolls have been gazetted today and will take effect on August 19. At the same time, the franchisee will reduce its existing concessions to certain types of vehicles, while maintaining the existing concessionary tolls for medium and heavy goods vehicles.
The existing and new tolls are at the Annex.
