The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, today (August 8) was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Legislative Councillor Ma Lik.
：Mr Ma will be remembered for his unreserved commitment to the country and to Hong Kong. He made tremendous contributions to the smooth return of Hong Kong to the motherland and the implementation of 'One Country, Two Systems' through his dedication and hard work,； Mr Tang said.
：While courageously fighting against his illness, Mr Ma continued to lead the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong and worked closely with the Government to promote Hong Kong・s development.；
Mr Tang expressed grave sadness at Mr Ma・s death and deeply regretted Hong Kong・s loss of an outstanding political leader. He extended his deepest condolences to Mr Ma・s family.
