Hospital Authority appoints new Director for Strategy and Planning

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority today (August 8) announced the appointment of Dr Lo Su-vui to succeed Dr Vivian Wong as the Director (Strategy and Planning) of the authority from September 1.  Dr Lo is currently the Chief Manager (Statistics, Workforce Planning & Knowledge Management) of the authority.

     Announcing the senior appointment, the authority's Chief Executive, Mr Shane Solomon, said Dr Lo possessed in-depth knowledge on the public healthcare system and had a strong blend of experience in research, corporate affairs, statistics, public health and policy formulation.  Professionally, Dr Lo is a specialist practitioner in Public Health and Administrative Medicine.

     ˇ§From 1995 to 1997, Dr Lo was the Director of Commissioning in one of the largest health authorities in the UK and was responsible for formulating strategies and developing plans to purchase specialist clinical care for the population.  Since 1998, he has taken up various senior appointments in the Hospital Authority that gave him a broad base of experience to help map and drive our strategies.ˇ¨

     The authority also announced that it had been able to retain Dr Vivian Wongˇ¦s valuable expertise and experience in the development of integrative medicine by appointing her as the Adviser (Integrative Medicine) with effect from September 1.  She will be responsible for the development of Chinese Medicine and new models of shared care with Western medicine through training, research and audit.

     While thanking Dr Wong for her contribution in leading the planning and service development of the authority in past years, Mr Solomon wished both Dr Lo and Dr Wong every success in their new positions.
