The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in July showed a decrease of 0.5% (1,375 cases) over June, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (August 8).
Total CSSA caseload at the end of July stood at 292,095 (see attached table), with 513,200 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases showed a continued decrease of 1.7% in July to 35,343.
Single parent cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.5% in July to 38,062.
Low earning cases showed a month-to-month decrease of 0.9% to stand at 17,721.
Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was about $17.8 billion for 2005-06.
