Regarding a paediatrics and adolescent medicine ward in Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) in which there were patients and staff with upper respiratory infection symptoms earlier, the spokesperson of PYNEH announced the following update today (August 6):
There is one more girl (11 days old) in the same ward has presented with symptom of upper respiratory infection. So far a total of eight patients presented with symptoms, five of them were found positive to Respiratory Syncytial Virus. All patients are being treated in isolation and are in stable condition. The staff concerned has recovered and resumed duty.
Admission to the above ward is suspended and restricted visiting policy has been implemented. The ward concerned will continue to keep close medical surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
