The Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr Huang Huahua, the Executive Vice-Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr Tang Bingquan, and a delegation of Guangdong officials today (August 1) visited Hong Kong, to gain a better understanding on the latest development of Hong Kong in various aspects, including new town planning and science and technology development.
Accompanied by the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, Mr Huang and the delegation went to Ma On Shan in the morning. Apart from attending a briefing on the planning and development of new town, they also toured community and public housing facilities.
The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, joined the delegation's visit to the Hong Kong Science Park in the afternoon. The delegation was briefed on the latest development of innovation technology in Hong Kong and the support rendered by the Science Park.
The delegation then visited the Hong Kong Productivity Council, where Mr Huang exchanged views with representatives of the council, including its chairman, Mr Andrew Leung Kwan Yuen, on fostering closer co-operation between Hong Kong and Guangdong on promoting productivity.
The Guangdong delegation will attend the 10th Plenary of the Hong Kong/Guangdong Co-operation Joint Conference to be held tomorrow (August 2) and will leave Hong Kong on Friday (August 3).
