The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
Regarding a paediatrics and adolescent medicine ward in Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH), in which there were patients with upper respiratory infection symptoms earlier, the spokesperson of PYNEH made the following announcement today (July 31):
There is one more one-month-old male infant in the same ward has presented with symptom of upper respiratory infection. So far, a total of seven patients and staff presented with the symptoms. Four patients were found positive to Respiratory Syncytial Virus. All patients are being treated in isolation and are in stable condition. The staff members concerned have recovered.
Admission to the above ward is suspended and restricted visiting policy has been implemented. The hospital will continue to keep close medical surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
