Police have reclassified a dead body found case occurred in Sham Shui Po early this (July 31) morning as murder and arson.
At about 1.40 am, a fire broke out at a residential unit at 137 Un Chau Street in Sham Shui Po. Police officers and firemen sped to the scene.
After putting out the fire, the firemen found a 24-year-old Sri Lankan woman lying unconscious on the ground inside the unit and the fire was suspicious in nature. The woman was certified dead by the ambulancemen at scene.
A post-mortem on the deceased conducted this afternoon showed that she died of suffocation.
Investigations by District Crime Squad of Sham Shui Po are proceeding.
