The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (July 31) obtained two orders in the District Court for payments of outstanding MPF contributions at about $250,000 against two employers.
The District Court today issued judgments against two employers, Leung San Fat trading as Chin Kiu Truck Body Manufactory and Strong Base Engineering Limited. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $195,046.44 and $60,475 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to respective four employees of the defendants.
The amounts awarded at the court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further ordered each of the respective defendants to pay cost of $930 for each case.
