The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop No.19, ground floor, Po Shing Lau, 88 Kau Yuk Road was ordered to suspend business from today (July 29) to August 11, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In January and April this year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the said food premises.

"A total fine of $8,000 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He added that there were also two convictions of the same offence regarding the same restaurant in December 2005 and July last year.

"A total fine of $5,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from October 5 to 11 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
