The Government today (July 27) announced that Mr Shiu Sin-por had been appointed a Full-time Member of the Central Policy Unit. The term of appointment will be from July 30, 2007 to July 29, 2009.
Mr Shiu is an experienced public policy researcher. He was the Executive Director of One Country Two Systems Research Institute, and had pursued advanced studies at the Harvard University (2005-06) and Tsinghua University (2006-07).
Mr Shiu will assist the Head, Central Policy Unit, Professor Lau Siu-kai, in advising the Chief Executive, the Chief Secretary for Administration and the Financial Secretary on various political and social issues, and conduct relevant policy research.
Prof Lau said he was extremely pleased with the appointment. He believed Mr Shiuˇ¦s wealth of public research experience and knowledge in the development of Hong Kong and the Mainland would contribute greatly towards the unitˇ¦s work, in particular the promotion of economic co-operation between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
