Voter registration deadline extended in arts representative nomination exercise
************************************************************

The deadline for the second phase of the nomination exercise for arts representatives of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) - the voter registration phase - has been extended to next Friday (August 3).

All arts organisations specified as nominating bodies for their respective arts interests in the gazette notice G.N.4115 of June 29, 2007, must help their members register as voters so they can take part in the subsequent phases of the nomination exercise to nominate candidates, to seek candidature and to vote. Arts organisations registered as members of nominating bodies in 2004 or before must submit afresh voter registration forms for their members this year.

A spokesman for the Home Affairs Bureau said that the extension of the voter registration period was to allow more time for arts organisations registered as nominating bodies to prepare voter registration submissions for their members.

The spokesman urged those who had yet to submit voter registration forms for their members to do so as soon as possible. The completed forms must be submitted by fax (2527 8996 or 2520 5535), or by email (clarice@prconcept.com), or by post or by hand to the nomination agent, PR Concepts Company Limited, at Room 2401-2, 24/F, Admiralty Centre II, 18 Harcourt Road,  Hong Kong, by 5pm next Friday (August 3).

Late submissions will not be accepted.

The 10 specified arts interests comprise arts administration, arts criticism, arts education, Chinese opera (Xiqu), dance, drama, film arts, literary arts, music and visual arts. The Chief Executive will consider for appointment as members of the HKADC the nominated representatives.  Members appointed will have the responsibility for planning, promoting and developing the arts in Hong Kong.

The voter registration guidelines and form can be downloaded from the Home Affairs Bureau website (http://www.hab.gov.hk). For enquiries, please call Miss Kelly Tang at 2520 2697 or Miss Clarice Cheung (2520 2857) of PR Concepts Company Limited.
