The following is issued on behalf of the Broadcasting Authority:
At its meeting today (July 21), the Broadcasting Authority (BA), on the basis of the auditorˇ¦s report submitted by TVB Pay Vision Limited (TVB Pay Vision) and the advice of the Office of the Telecommunications Authority, decided that TVB Pay Vision had complied with the two Milestones on premises passed by its Service as set out in its domestic pay television programme service licence. These Milestones require TVB Pay Vision to roll out its service to pass no fewer than 1,600,000 and 1,800,000 premises by August 23, 2007 and August 23, 2008 respectively.
The BA also noted that in June 2007, the Commissioner for Television and Entertainment Licensing dealt with 105 cases (231 complaints) under her delegated authority, of which four cases (four complaints) were classified as minor breaches, and 76 cases (199 complaints) as unsubstantiated, under section 11 of the Broadcasting Authority Ordinance (BAO). 25 cases (involving 28 complaints) were outside the ambit of section 11 of the BAO.
