The Leisure and Cultural Services Department today (July 17) issued the following statement in response to a media report that majority of tickets for Phase I of ˇ§The Pride of China: Masterpieces of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy of the Jin, Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasties from the Palace Museumˇ¨ had been reserved for organisations.
ˇ§About 75 per cent of the tickets for the exhibition are available through URBTIX, where members of the public can plan and select the session that suits them most before ordering their tickets through internet, telephone or in person at one of the 30 URBTIX outlets. Some 14 per cent of the tickets are doors tickets available at the Box Office of the museum which opens at 9am. About ten per cent of the tickets are for applications from schools and voluntary and non-profit making organisations.ˇ¨
ˇ§Since May 31, the department, through press conferences, press releases and other publicity materials, has called on members of the public to obtain tickets for the popular exhibition as early as possible. Although initial response was slow, ticket sales have improved significantly as time goes. This indicates that members of the public welcome the convenient ticketing arrangement.ˇ¨
