The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.
The restaurant, at Shop No 61, ground floor, Full Shing Building, Sai Ching Street was ordered to suspend business from today (July 12) to July 25, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.
"In July last year and March this year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the food premises.
"A total fine of $10,000 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.
He added that the same restaurant had two convictions in May and July last year for the same offence.
"A total fine of $5,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from October 5 to October 11 last year," the spokesman said.
He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
