Siu Lam Hospital (SLH) spokesperson made the following announcement today (July 11):
Since July 2, 10 male patients (aged 27 to 55) and four staff members of a ward for the severe mentally handicapped have presented with respiratory symptoms. All the patients are in stable condition and being treated under isolation. The test results of four patients are positive to Respiratory Syncytial Virus, while that of the remaining six are pending. Among the four staff concerned, one has been recovered and returned to work, while the other three are currently on leave and in stable condition.
Admission to and discharge from the ward concerned have been suspended and restricted visiting policy has been implemented. Families of the patients concerned have been duly informed. Infection control measures have been stepped up in the wards and all patients and health care staff are under close medical surveillance.
SLH has reported the cases to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection.
