The Information Services Department today (July 5) announced the grand prize winners of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region 10th Anniversary E-card Design Competition.
The Director of the Celebrations Co-ordination Office, Mr Raymond Young, and Director of Information Services (Designate), Mrs Betty Fung, presented prizes to the e-card design winners at a prize presentation ceremony today.
Mr Young said more than 21,000 cards had been sent by people since the 12 winning e-cards were posted on the anniversary website on May 16 and the hit rates showed that they were very popular.
The champion e-card, featuring giant pandas in a circus show, was designed by Gloria Ng of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Sha Tin).
The inter-active fireworks design by April He of Hong Kong Polytechnic University earned her the 1st runner-up of the competition.
The 2nd runner-up was Chung Siu Fai of the First Institute of Art & Design whose e-card illustrated a traditional Chinese celebration.
The champion received a cash prize of $9,000 and the 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up were awarded cash prizes of $7,000 and 5,000 respectively.
They and nine other students who designed the 12 winning e-cards were each awarded a cash prize of $3,000 and a certificate of merit.
Cathay Pacific Airways Corporate Communication General Manager, Mr Dane Cheng, presented air tickets to winners of the e-card lucky draw competition.
Cathay Pacific Airways sponsored 12 air tickets as prizes of the lucky draw.
The tickets are for return flights between Hong Kong and any destination of the winners' choice with which Cathay Pacific and Dragonair have direct flights.
The e-card campaign was organised by the Information Services Department to mark this year's celebrations. The 12 e-cards are posted on the anniversary celebrations websites www.gov.hk/10 for use by the public.
