Final phase of the five-day week scheme now in force
****************************************************

The Government today reminded people that it had launched final phase of its five-day week scheme on July 1. Those offices that had moved to the new work pattern had extended their office hours on weekdays but would not open on Saturdays, including this weekend (July 7).

People should check with the 24-hour 1823 Citizen's Easy Link or look up the dedicated website (www.gov.hk/info/5day/) before visiting Government offices.

Service units joining a five-day week in the final phase include the Land Registry, Social Welfare Department's Social Security Field Units, Department of Health's tuberculosis and chest and social hygiene services, and some offices of the Hong Kong Police Force.

Details of units and services that have moved to a five-day week with effect from July 1 are as follows: (see table)

Alternative means of service delivery including drop-in boxes and enhanced enquiry service have been introduced as necessary. At the initial stage of implementation, relevant departments will closely monitor public reaction and render assistance to facilitate the public to adapt to the new opening hours.

Emergency and essential services such as those involving the maintenance of law and order, administration of penal institutions and provision of rescue services continue to be provided round the clock.

Implementation of the final phase concludes the migration of all suitable government units to a five-day week.
