Co-operation arrangements on Shenzhen Bay Port signed (with photos/video)

    The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Rafael Hui, today (June 28) attended a signing ceremony in Shenzhen for co-operation arrangements relating to implementation of the co-location arrangement in the Shenzhen Bay Port.  

     The Shenzhen Mayor, Mr Xu Zongheng, represented the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government at the ceremony.

     "The co-location arrangement at the Shenzhen Bay Port is the first of its kind to be implemented at control points between Hong Kong and the Mainland.  It fulfills the spirit of the 'One Country, Two Systems' principle, and fully reflects its creativity and flexibility," Mr Hui said.

     On behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Mr Hui expressed sincere thanks to the Central People's Government, the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government for their continuous support to make the co-location arrangement possible.

     The agreements signed by the Hong Kong and Shenzhen governments include a land lease contract, a co-operation arrangement on major matters concerning the Shenzhen Bay Port, an implementation plan on operation of the Shenzhen Bay Port, and a co-operation agreement on the operation, maintenance and repair of the Shenzhen section of the Shenzhen Bay Bridge.  These agreements cover Hong Kong side's right to use the land at the Hong Kong Port Area within the Shenzhen Bay Port acquired by way of lease, as well as the co-operation framework and implementation details of the two sides concerning the Shenzhen Bay Port.

     The Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose SK Lee, the Deputy Secretary for Security, Ms Grace Lui, and the Deputy Secretary for the Environment, Transport and Works, Mr Philip Yung, represented the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to sign the relevant agreements.

     The Shenzhen Bay Port will be officially opened after a ceremony at noon on Sunday (July 1), and passenger and cargo clearance facilities will be opened for public use from 6pm.
