    Two nominations were received by the Returning Officer for the by-election in the Hung Hom Bay Constituency of the Kowloon City District Council by the close of the nomination period today (June 27).

     The Returning Officer will rule on the validity of the nominees' candidature shortly.

     A briefing for candidates and their agents will be held at 1706-1713 Conference Room, One Harbourfront, 18-22 Tak Fung Street, Hung Hom, Kowloon, at 5pm on Friday (June 29). The Chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, Mr Justice Pang Kin-kee, will chair the briefing and introduce the guidelines on election-related activities.

     A representative from the Independent Commission Against Corruption will explain the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance. The Returning Officer and representatives from the Registration and Electoral Office, the Post Office and the Department of Justice will also be present.

     If there is more than one validly nominated candidate, voting for a contested election is set for July 29 (Sunday). The returned candidate will fill a vacant seat of an elected member in the Kowloon City District Council.
