Regarding the recent medical incident of chemotherapy in Prince of Wales Hospital, the Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson made the following announcement today (25 June):
HA expressed great concern on the incident and has set up an investigation panel to investigate the circumstances surrounding the medication incident on inadvertent intrathecal vincristine administration and to make recommendations to prevent recurrence of similar incidents.
The investigation panel will be chaired by Professor Ian Tannock of Medical Oncology at Princess Margaret Hospital in Canada. Other members include Professor Grace Tang, President of Hong Kong Academy of Medicine; and Dr P Y Leung, HA Director (Quality & Safety). The investigation report is expected to be completed by end of July.
