The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (June 22) pursued eight claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $110,000 on behalf of 17 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
At the Tribunal's hearing today, Kingying Offset Printing Limited, did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA $21,950.27, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The other seven defendants, Ask Global Enterprises Limited, Kwai Chuen Container Service Company Limited, King of Property Co Limited, Maxwell Engineering Limited, All-Way (HK) Limited, TG Electric Company Limited and Style Limited trading as Ying Choi Seafood Restaurant, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $34,877.18, $19,713.76, $17,178.35, $12,441, $2,115.75, $1,725 and $894.96 being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal further ordered defendants to pay $176, $186, $146, $120, $90, $76, $90 and $60 respectively as the costs in respect of the claims.
