The Government today (June 22) announced the re-appointment of Dr Allan Zeman, G.B.S.,J.P. and Mr Kevin Westley as the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Ocean Park Corporation (OPC) respectively for a period of two years, from July 1, 2007, to June 30, 2009. The following serving members of the board were also re-appointed –
(a) Mr James E Thompson, G.B.S.;
(b) Professor Patrick Lau Sau-shing, S.B.S.,J.P.;
(c) Professor Jim Chi-yung, J.P.;
(d) Ms Paddy Lui Wai-yu, J.P.; and,
(e) Mr Thomas J Mehrmann
"We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the serving members of the board for their continued support. We believe, with their professional expertise in different respects, the Ocean Park will continue to develop as a world-class marine-themed attraction," a government spokesman said.
The Government also announced the appointment of Ir Dr Greg Wong Chak-yan as a new member of the Board of the OPC for a period of two years from July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2009.
Dr Wong is a member of the Antiquities Advisory Board, the Town Planning Board and the Harbour-front Enhancement Committee. He was also the president of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in 2005-2006.
"Dr Wong has rich knowledge and experience in the engineering field which would be relevant to the implementation of the redevelopment plans of the Ocean Park," the spokesman said.
"We would also like to thank the outgoing member, Mr Freeman Lau Siu-hongfor his invaluable contribution to the work of the board," the spokesman said.
The Board of OPC is a statutory body established under the Ocean Park Corporation Ordinance (Chapter 388) to manage and control Ocean Park as a public recreational and educational park.
