The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) yesterday (June 21) ordered the temporary closure of a food premises (on the third floor) and its kitchen (at basement 3) in a hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui for thorough cleansing and disinfection.
The FEHD was informed by the Department of Health of food poisoning outbreaks involving a total of six people related to "The Greenery" at Royal Garden Hotel, 69 Mody Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.
"In view of signs of continuation of food poisoning outbreaks, there is epidemiological ground to support the temporary closure of the food premises and its kitchen for thorough cleansing and disinfection," a spokesman for the department said.
The food premises will remain closed until the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene is fully satisfied that the immediate health hazards on the premises have been eliminated.
Under the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, the Director is empowered to close expeditiously premises that pose immediate health hazards to the public.
