The following is issued on behalf of the Electoral Affairs Commission:
To gear up for the poll for the 2007 District Council election on November 18, the Electoral Affairs Commission invites all interested individuals and parties to attend a public forum tomorrow (June 22) on the Proposed Guidelines on Election-related Activities in respect of the District Council Election.
The forum will begin at 2.30pm in the commission's conference room at 10/F Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai. Commission chairman Mr Justice Pang Kin-kee and member Professor Andrew Chan Chi-fai will chair the forum.
A commission spokesperson said people were welcome to express supporting or different views at the forum.
The proposed guidelines were released on June 7 for public consultation until July 6. After the consultation, the commission will release the finalised guidelines before the start of the nomination period, which has been tentatively set for October 2 to 15.
Written representations can be sent to the commission's secretariat at 10/F Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai. Submissions by fax (2511 1682) or email (eacenq@reo.gov.hk) are also welcome.
