The clinics of three services under the Department of Health will move to the new work pattern under the final phase of the five-day week scheme on July 1.
A spokesman for the department stressed today (June 20) that emergency and essential services in the department would continue to be provided on Saturdays.
He said the services switching to a five-day week starting July 1 were the tuberculosis and chest service, the social hygiene service, as well as the government dental services for civil service eligible persons.
"The level and efficiency of services provided by the department would not be affected as the opening hours on weekdays will be extended and a series of measures to complement the migration will be taken.
"For example, these clinical services will accept bookings to cater for customers' need, and the government dental services will maintain the operation of evening clinics and extended operating hours after the migration to a five-day week.
"Phase two of the five-day week in the department was implemented smoothly. The quality of our service has been maintained. We will closely monitor the operation and fine-tune the measures as necessary," he said.
