Employer ordered to pay MPF non-payment

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (June 18) pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $7,000 on behalf of an employee, who was owed MPF contributions by the employer.
Coastal Printing HK Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA $7,087.50, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The tribunal further awarded $90 as cost in respect of the claim.
