Correctional Services Department (CSD) officers today (June 17) promptly stopped a fight among some prisoners in Pil Uk Prison in Sai Kung.
At about 8.45 am, 212 prisoners were participating in various recreational activities in the exercise yard. Suddenly, a small group of Vietnamese prisoners started a fight with some local prisoners.
Staff members at the scene immediately intervened. They promptly stopped the fight and contained the situation. In the process of stopping the fight and separating the prisoners involved, OC foam were used.
Three Vietnamese and 11 local prisoners sustained minor injuries and were seen and treated by the Medical Officer of the prison. None of them needed to be sent to outside hospital.
Preliminary investigation revealed that 12 Vietnamese and 18 local prisoners were involved in the fight.
Police has been informed of the incident. CSD will also look into the causes of the fight.
